5 Steps To Getting Red Wine Out Of Your Carpet

Imagine that you are hosting a party for all of your friends at your new home. You are so excited for them to see it, and everyone seems to be having a wonderful time. It’s going just as you hoped it would – perfectly.

Across the room, someone gasps, and your heart skips a beat. You look and notice that one of your friends has just spilled red wine on your new, gorgeous, beige carpet. They feel terrible and are very apologetic, and you try to smooth things over with them, but on the inside, you’re fuming.

How are you ever going to get that stain out?

There are several steps you should take, and we would like to share them with you.

Step #1: Blot the Stain Right Away

Make sure you don’t ignore the stain. It is important to blot it with a white paper towel or rag and get as much of the liquid up as you can before it sets. Remember, do not rub the stain. That will only cause it to set further into the carpet.

Step #2: Use Cold Water as You Blot

Once the liquid is soaked up, wet the area with cold water and blot it some more. This will help to dilute the stain. Continue blotting until the area is dry.

Step #3: Cover the Stain with Salt

While it might seem strange, pour salt all over the stain. You will notice that the white granules will begin to turn pink. This is because of the way they soak up the leftover wine.

Step #4: Vacuum the Stain

Once the stain is dry, vacuum up the salt. You may need to wait until the next morning to be sure the area is not still a little damp from the water.

Step #5: Contact a Professional Cleaning Service

Once all of this is done, you may have successfully cleaned the stain. However, there is still the chance that a slightly pinkish hue will remain in your carpet. If that is the case, you need the help of a cleaning service like Green Clean.

This might seem like the worst thing that could have happened at your party. But don’t despair. We haven’t met a wine stain that was too big a match for us yet.
