Certified Green Cleaning Products – It’s ALL WE USE!

Green products, including Axiom and BioKleen, are certified products by the Carpet Rug Institute’s (CRI) Seal of Approval.  The program identifies effective carpet cleaning solutions that successfully remove stains and soil without adversely affecting the appearance or performance of the carpet or upholstery.  The CRI Seal of Approval tests:

  • The overall cleaning effectiveness,
  • Rate of resoiling,
  • pH levels (neutral ensures carpet dyes and fibers are not adversely affected),
  • Surface texture change (minimally changed after repeated cleanings),
  • Optical brighteners (NONE allowed),
  • Colorfastness (not overly aggressive to change color of carpet)

Nationally partnered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment program, CRI Seal of Approval cleaning products are certified for no damage to the environment.

Two product manufacturers that Green Clean trusts are certified by the CRI Seal of Approval and used on a daily basis are:

  • Axiom: a fully biodegradable, phosphate-free and powerful professional cleaning products with mild pH and no sticky residue
  • BioKleen: all natural, non-toxic, formulated with exceptional quality and value with no negative effects to the environment
    • Biodegradable with no harsh fumes, gentle for sensitive skin, no chlorine, optical brighteners or phosphates, and no sticky residue

Household Carpet Cleaning Products can contaminate your home.

Carpet Cleaning and other household cleaning supplies found in homes and schools can expose children and pets to multiple chemicals that are links to asthma, cancer and a host of other health problems and to dozens of other air contaminants that have never been tested for safety.

Lax labeling requirements mean that consumers don not have any idea what they are purchasing. Many would be alarmed to learn that a product like Comet Powder Cleanser releases more than a hundred air contaminants including chloroform, benzene, and formaldehyde. This is just one product many other contaminants that are found in many households.

Do Green Cleaning Agents Really Work?

The answer is yes Green Carpet Cleaning Agents absolutely do work. The fact of the matter is there is a general perception among many  that Green Cleaning products don’t work as well. This is simply not true. When it comes to Carpet Cleaning and Upholstery Cleaning there are many factors that come into play when it comes to a good thorough cleaning job. The cleaning agents only make up 25% of the actual cleaning system.  In our industry we use a term called T.A.C.T. this refers to Time (Dwell time), Agitation (Scrubbing, Raking and Brushing), Chemical (Cleaning Agents) and Temperature (Temperature of the water used for cleaning). The fact is many Carpet Cleaners rely on on 2 of these to get their results mostly Chemical and Temperature which means they rely on really strong cleaning chemicals to get the job done. In reality if you add Time(which also means taking the time to do a good job) and Agitation(which requires more work) back into the equation the results are excellent no matter what type of cleaning products are being used. Regular Cleaning and Maintenance of Carpet and Upholstered furnishings ultimately results in a Cleaner Healthier indoor environment. At Green Clean Carpet Care www.greencleancare.com  we have TACT and we help Restore Healthy Environments.

Can Carpet Cleaning Chemicals be Harmful or Toxic?

Do You Wonder If The Chemicals In Carpet Cleaning Can Be Harmful?

The answer to this question is yes and no! The fact of the matter is that a lot of carpet cleaning chemicals are made with strong cleaning chemicals.  Butyloxyethanol and Ethylene Glycol Butyl Ether are just a couple of the common ingredients found in many Carpet Cleaning products. These chemicals should not be inhaled or come into contact with bare skin not to mention their affect on the environment.

The reality is no matter how good we rinse the carpet with our big machines some chemical residue still remains. Is this really condusive to a healthy indoor environment? Probably not! Some people are certainly affected by these products right to the point where it will make them sick. Over time people can develop all sorts of sensitivities that are often times related to strong cleaning chemicals. Most people aren’t directly affected by these products so they don’t even think about it. But what are the long term health affects? Well we don’t really know so why not use products that we know are safe for ourselves and the environment.

Stay tuned for my next blog and I will talk about how Green Carpet Cleaning Products actually DO work.
