What actually happens when you don’t vacuum?

It shouldn’t be a problem, but it is.

Often homeowners don’t vacuum their home enough and some nasty things start to happen. In this blog post we’re going to identify 5 specific things that happen if you’ve been under vacuuming.

Some of them are pretty nasty.

Dust mite breeding.

If you’re not vacuuming enough, dust mites settle into your carpet. Feasting off of human skin cells, these creatures flourish in non-vacuumed areas and breed. Talk about disgusting.

Traffic patterns.

As dirt, dust, and debris settle into the carpet, the carpet’s fibers will see premature wear, which often shows up in the visual form of traffic patterns. While the patterns are created by footsteps, it’s the lack of effective cleaning that allows for carpet to wear faster than usual.

Bacteria thrives.

Just because your carpet looks clean doesn’t mean it actually is. Carpet that’s neglected, and not vacuumed consistently, can become a breeding ground for bacteria to live. This can be dangerous for your kids and pets who may lay on the carpet.

General messiness.

A common occurrence that’s often unnoticed is that your home simply becomes messier when you don’t vacuum. Think about it this way: when you vacuum you have to pick up the clutter to make sure you vacuum thoroughly.

Mold spreads.

If you’re not vacuuming consistently, you’re not removing mold spores from your carpet. Whether these spores are dead or alive they will still release mycotoxins that can be harmful to everyone within your home.

Most of the time it’s a simple change of pattern to prevent these nasty things from happening; just vacuum more consistently.
